General Animosity & Overall Malfeasance

Since the posting of the imposed tax increases, the overall climate in the City has naturally changed. I was not surprised by the reaction. One only has to look at our documented history in order to see the lasting effects of a corrupt inept Administration, even one the size of Ar.
While I wasn't surprised, that is not to say that I have not been intrigued by the chain of events that have transpired.

I find that the majority of people lack direction. I have always known it to be true yet as of late it has become glaringly obvious. I have determined in my infinite wisdom that it stems from a clear lack of ambition, or worse they simply lack the ability to think for themselves. I feel that one of the single worst crimes you can commit against yourself is to allow yourself to become complacent.
It doesn't take the skills of a seasoned tracker to spot them in a crowd, the vacuous stare, the pointless chatter revolving around absolutely nothing is normally a clear indicator. They are often times extremely easy to manipulate, believing without questioning, conditioned to eagerly please in their ongoing effort to be included. Their overall usefulness however has its limitations, due primarily to the one element that makes them useful in the first place, it is for this reason alone I refer to them as carriers, feeding them small dosages of corrupt information in order to satisfy my own agenda.

The awaited delivery of olives arrived courtesy of the charming Poet. I continue to find his company interesting. He is actually sharper than I originally thought, the speculative rumors that surrounded him prior to our first meeting, painted him much differently. Case in point, he seems to have a genuine interest in the welfare of the Low Caste, something he has proved once again by his suggestion that in lieu of payment for the delicious olives that I instead use the coin to set up a complimentary table in the impoverished areas of the City each Passage Hand. I enjoying the sense of superiority and open display of my own success. Not only do I feel magnanimously charitable but it also helps me allows me direction interaction with the carries, ensuring they remained well fed during this time of turmoil.

Interestingly enough a couple of days after the post concerning the tax hike, there was yet another post, from General Kyron, offering monetary assistance to those in need. I question his motives as well as his resources. There was a time in distant past when I was companioned to Taimh that I considered him an ally. Trust while never offered on either parts, yet his powerful influence was something I cultivated for we shared the common bond of our mutual disdain surrounding my former companion. Talk concerning his demise I believe brought us both a great deal of satisfaction. Despite the passage of time, I remember enough to know the General doesn't do anything unless it directly benefits himself.
Is it public notoriety he seeks in hopes of fulfilling his political aspirations?
If so it makes me wonder about his actual involvement in the decision concerning the increase.

I believe that most men, especially those in a positions of authority don't care about respect or praise, all they truly want is blind obedience.

Previously closed pages have been opened to add the noteworthy addition. The date remains undocumented yet not forgotten from anyone's memory as it is the day that imposed tax increase was suspended. The eloquent orator for the evening announcement was the appointed,
'Magistrate of the People'.
At the end of his announcement he had majority of the large crowd eating out his raised hand. It should be noted that not everyone in attendance was pleased by the news.
The battle of the people, ending in victory. I only hope it doesn't end up starting a war.
